General Maintenance Tips

Most robot vacuum problems can be prevented with regular maintenance. Here are the most impactful habits for extending the life of your Shark robot vacuum:

  • Empty the dustbin after every 2 to 3 cleaning cycles — a full dustbin strains the suction motor and reduces cleaning performance.
  • Clean the filter monthly — tap the HEPA filter over a trash can to dislodge dust, or rinse it with water and let it dry completely for 24 hours before reinstalling.
  • Check the brush roll weekly — remove hair and string wrapped around the brush roll to prevent motor overload.
  • Inspect side brushes monthly — replace them when bristles are bent, frayed, or missing.
  • Clean cliff sensors every 2 to 4 weeks — wipe the sensors on the underside of the robot with a dry cloth to prevent false drop detection.
  • Check the wheels for debris — remove any hair or debris from the wheel axles to maintain straight tracking.
